Everyone, I need to know, will my WD 1TB MY Book Essential hard drive power down if I leave it on for a couple of hours, do I need WD Smart Ware to turn it off? If I don’t install it will power saving mode be enabled?
I need to know, will my WD 1TB MY Book Essential hard drive power down if I leave it on for a couple of hours, do I need WD Smart Ware to turn it off? If I don’t install it will power saving mode be enabled?
I believe the drive goes into stand by by itself. You don’t need the Smartware for anything really.

Joe_S: Is there a way to prenent stand by without using the software?
Once you set the power down option, you can uninstall SmartWare, and the drive will hold that option.
