Troubleshooting USB Controllers and Power Management
Resetting USB Controllers:
Open Device Manager.
Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
Right-click and uninstall all USB Root Hub drivers one by one.
Restart your computer. The system will automatically reinstall the drivers.
Disabling USB Selective Suspend:
Go to Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
Locate USB settings > USB selective suspend setting.
Set it to Disabled.
By following these steps, you can resolve issues related to USB controllers and power management.
Run WD Drive Utilities and perform the “Diagnostics” function to check the health status of the hard drive.
If a firmware update is detected, promptly upgrade it using the USB recovery software (some driver issues may be resolved through firmware updates) to retrieve the data.
