i’m using multiple red drives from wd and now was time to upgrade to 8tb but WD red 8TB won’t show on windows server 2012 or windows 10 via sata usb adapter (i’ve used that adapted few days later to clone another drive just fine) any ideas how to initialise to drive? thank you

Are you able to test the drive connected directly to the computer?
Did you check on disk management?
