WD RED 8TB - spin down/standby

I am using 2 REDs 8TB of size in my desktop computer which runs 24/7. Windows 10 does not spin down the drives when set it to so in the energy plan. Basically i want to save energy.

Is there a way or a utility which spins the drives down to save energy? If not will the spin down work if i put the disk in an external enclosure?

I tried HDDSCAN tool but this will spin it down and on access they will not turn on…

Is there some way?

Hi,

In order to access drive, it must be active or run in while spinning down of drive will make it ‘inactive’. However, you may use some external enclosures which may have sleep feature.
