I have recently bought 2 WD Passport 4 TB. Both of them shut down/restart my iMac every time I plug them in. I have reformatted them both to ‘Mac OS Extended (Journaled)’.
After restarting the iMac the Passports seem to work fine, but it’s very annoying. I’ve experienced NO similar problems with any other hard drives or USB-connections to my iMac.
They work fine with my Macbook by the way…
Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be?

Hello JonasMandix,
There could be many reasons for the abnormal behavior of the My Passport drive on the Mac computer, I would suggest you to run test on the drive using WD Drive Utilities for any error.
