So I had a little “accident” and the external HD took a little tumble of about 1m onto the tiles.Nothing is cracked or out of place, when plugging in the light still comes on but on both my laptop and iMac it won’t pop up like it usually does.
Any ideas please what can I do …
Data recovery is probably your only option.
What is most likely to have happened is that the heads got knocked off the parking ramp and onto the platters. The voice-coil isn’t strong enough to unload them because they’re not floating on the spinning disk.
