Everything was working fine until I tried to plug Mypassport into my router in an attempt to make it a NAS. I actually did this was another external harddrive as well. I made the mistake of selecting a format type in the Asus router software. I flipped it back and forth between the various formatting types, and eventually put it back to the NTFS for both harddrives. Now, neither drive shows up in explorer and Disk Manager shows the harddrives but I cannot rename or make a select a new driver letter.

Is the device a “My Passport” or a “My Passport wireless”?
If it is the wireless. . . you may be a bit hosed.
If it is a standard USB HDD. . . . .then I would plug it into a windows PC and do a Format of the drive. Hopefully. . . you don’t have data on the drive. If you have data. . .you need to start thinking about recovery tools.
