WD MyCloud Gen2 - Enable apps install tab + Apps!

For wdmycloud gen1 i see rsync, but for gen2 not.
How can i install rsync to wdmycloud gen2?
I need backup my microserver with synology to wdmycloud gen2
Or is any other way to make backup from synology to wdmycloud?

Thanks.

Is rsync available on the synology? If so then rsync from the synology to the my Cloud.

rsync available but icannot use it.
Synology i set up other rsync, with clooud ip adress and port 873, but not find.

OK, i make enable app install, and hack.
So i can enable remote server, set up password, synology see the my cloud, can i choose the public directory, but i gave error with credentials.

Edited
I install utilsupdate, and nano /etc/rsyncd.secrets
There was the user:password of rsync

Yeah, I can only second that. I’d love to see Pyload for Gen2

Same problem for me.
I freshly installed the newest firmware 2.30.165 on WD My Cloud Gen 2 (single bay), and wanted to enable ‘app installation’.
So, I tried to follow the instructions.

  1. Enable SSH access
  2. Connect via SSH to WDMC (Login: root)
  3. Copy define.js to Public dir
  4. In SSH run this:
    rm /usr/local/model/web/pages/function/define.js
    ln -sf /mnt/HD/HD_a2/Public/define.js /usr/local/model/web/pages/function/define.js
  5. Refrash web page (WD Web GUI), go to Apps tab
  6. Install WDMyCloud_WDCrack_1.0.bin
  7. Install any other apps.
  8. Enjoy!
    =============
After step 5, I found ‘Install an app manually’ under “App” tap. And I clicked ‘Install an app manually’ to install WDMYCloud_WDCrack_1.0.bin.
Then, the messages regarding the app service agreement appeared.
When I clickeed ‘Agree’ button, there isn’t any change. In other words, the ‘Agree’ button doesn’t work.
So, I can’t install WDCrack app.
Could you check if this is related with the new firmware update?

SAme issue here!!!

but plex dont work with new firmware. The other apps works yet. Please help me

So I can’t get the last command to run

chmod 777 /usr/local/model/web/pages/function/define.js

It tells me that there is no such file or directory. So then upon a reload of the webpage it’s blank with just the Western Digital Logo and and I have to restart the HDD to get the login page to work again. I’m trying to get this to work to install Plex so I can run it to my Xbox One.

Rebuild the Plex latest version for WDMyCloud testing without any issues.
WDMyCloud_plexmediaserver_1553634.bin

I’ve installed “WDMyCloud_Debian_8.0-1.bin” and configured it for my usage on my 2TB HDD WD-Gen 2 system.
And, I want to upgrade HDD from 2T to 4T.
Is it possilbe to copy “/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/Debian” from 2T HDD to 4T HDD without losing my configuration?
In my thought,

  1. Fresh install of WD firmware & WDCrack + Debian app on 4T HDD
  2. Replace “/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/Debian” on 4T HDD with “/mnt/HD/HD_a2/Nas_Prog/Debian” from 2T HDD
  3. Same chroot configuration between 2T and 4T.

I’d like to know if this would be possible or not.

Copy HDD 1-by-1, then just extend DataPation.

Or: Prepare new HDD, install system, configure, install chroot (debian app), stop it, copy old “chroot” folder, start app again.

Thank you for the reply.

I encountered some problem with tar command for Debian folder in old HDD.:disappointed_relieved:
So, I only copied several configuration files from old HDD to new HDD, and set up ‘chroot’ in new HDD, again.
Now, it works very well.

No solution yet for app install after fw upgrade to 2.30.165?

Easiest is just to downgrade FW as per posts further up in the chain
