when I try to open mypassport ultra, i get a very brief pop up: “The invocation of the constructor on type ‘WDSmartWare.Retrieve.Retrieve’ that matches the specified binding constraints threw an exception.” Then it will not open.
Any idea what that means, and how to fix so I can open back up and restore features.

Can you specify if you are trying to open your My Passport Ultra or the WD Smartware software?
