WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt2 RAID1 (mirrored) 4 TB drive takes forever to access files connected to OSX Sonoma 14.4.1

I own a WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt2 RAID1 (mirrored) 4TB drive.

It shows as 2 TB since it is configured as RAID1 (mirrored)

The RAID volume is healthy. There is no disk corruption.

The two internal drives are WD Green 2 TB WD20NPVX.

The problem is that it takes a very long time to access folders and files using Finder on OSX Sonoma 14.4.1.

I can hear the drives starting to spin up inside the case when I access this drive in Finder.

OSX Sonoma 14.4.1 is optimized for SSD IO.

I am wondering if I can replace the WD Green 2 TB WD20NPVX drives with SSDs and rebuild the RAID1 configuration.

Is this a viable solution to the slowness issue?

Also what WD SSD drive model (Green, Black, Red) would work with the RAID controller in the WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt2 powered enclosure?
