WD My Passport not working anymore after partitioning

Hi

My WD Passport external harddrive worked more then 2 years like a charm.

I decided yesterday to make two partitions so I can use one for Time Machine backups.

After I made the two partitions, Time Machine was not able to use the partition.

So I used Disk Utility and tried to repair the disk.

But Disk Utility failed to unmount the disk. So I tried to delete the partiitions again

and reformat the whole disk. But also this didn’t work. So I tried to unmount the disks within Finder and

after some while it said, “was not able to eject disk … would you like to force eject?”

I sayd yes and the disk does not mount anymore since. Now the disk makes about 4 clicking noises when

I connect it to my mac but doesn’t mount. Tried also with a windows machine, same there.

Did I just destroy my hard drive with Disk Utility from Apple ?

Is this even possible ?

Chances are the partition got really messed up when you ejected it

go to disk utility and see if you can repair the partition

Unfortunately the disk does not show in Disk Utility anymore.

When I start my macbook with “alt/option” pressed, the disk shows up

in the boot menu as windows disk. When I boot this disk, it says “no operation system found”

somebody has the same experience ?

See if its possible to update the firmware or try formatting on a different computer
