Just bought the above and done initial setup, one user, I haven’t checked all settings yet so I might have missed something. Is the maximum storage for WD My Cloud Mirror Gen2 8TB actually 4TB, and the “mirror” refers to an internal mirroring of the MyCloud? I thought it meant mirroring for personal backups, like Google drive or dropbox sort of.
Yes, it’s raid 1 mirroring. The device contains 2x 4TB drives, by default set up as a raid 1 pair so 4TB are visible overall.
If you want 8TB you need to set it to one of the other modes, but of course you lose the mirror aspect then (JBOD or spanning modes for example).
