Just bought a WD My Book Essential 1TB.
I don’t need WD SmartWare as I use Acronis for backup so the software isn’t installed.
Connected the drive to my Windows 7 64bit Lenovo laptop.
I have now 3 WD drives :
Internal 500GB WDC WD5000BPVT
External My Book 1TB WDC WD5000AAKS (2x500GB Raid 0)
External (new) My Book Essential 1TB WDBACW0010HBK-01.
After connecting the new 1TB Essential drive I got a Lenovo update to install WD SES device driver which I installed. The SES driver appears in Device Manager under WD Drive Management Devices.
There is no entry under c:\program files\western digital\ses driver.
The new drive is displayed by Windows 7 device manager (and other applications) as My Book 1140 USB device.
SIW application displays the drive as WDC WD10EARX - WD My Book 1140.
What shoul I do to get the drive to be recognized properly ?
