I’ve had my WD Live for about 2 months now and I love it.
I just put all of my movies and series on my 1.5TB HDD and plug it in on WD Live and I can watch it instantly.
Lately tho, it’s been very slow. It takes him up to 5 minutes to start a video ( I just have a black screen before that ) and if I try to forward through the intro of a serie to get right in the action it takes him 3 minutes to play again instead of right after clicking play.
Is there any way I can fix this cause it’s getting real annoying…
I am just guessing here. Maybe you need to defrag the drive.
That actually sounds quite logical.

So I did a defrag and I still have the same problem…
Defragging a 1.5tb HDD takes way too long as well, it’s been running for 40 hours…
Anyway, any other solutions that might work?
What firmware are you using?
I’m using 1.01.12
Never upgraded it after buying it.

If it does everything you want, there’s no need to upgrade the firmware yet.
Something to try (if you haven’t already) is unplugging the WD TV from the power supply and leaving it for 10 minutes. This should empty the cache. See if that helps. If not, perhaps a factory reset may help speed it up but try power cycling first.

So I tried unplugging it for some time and resetting it and I still have the same problem…
Out of curiosity, how big is your .wd_tv folder on the external HDD?

I actually resetted it with the HDD still in there. Now that I got it out to check that folder and put it back in again. It seems to work just fine again.
