WD harddisk shows in Disk Utility, but not on Desktop

Hello there!

My WD harddisk has stopped showing up on my laptop (mac), and until today it did not show up on disk utility either. I plugged it in on other laptops, but no change.

Today however, it seems to be showing up in Disk utility. Does this mean that it is damaged? If so, how do i fix this?

When i clicked verify disk, it says the disk needs to be repaired. When i click repair disk, it reaches a point till which it says 

'Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required.; , and then no change! I have let it be for ten minutes now, the loading bar still shows loading, but the reapir disk details stay the same!

Hi, if possible try using another USB cable, avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs. You can also try connecting the Passport to another Mac.
