WD folder opens automatically and frequently

Using W8 on 64-bit machine. Very annoying, WD folder opens every few minutes and interrupts work. Any ideas?

When you say that the WD folder opens automatically, what specific folder is opening?

Does that happens with the drive disconnected as well?

Have you test that on a different pc.

As a recommendation, make sure that the drivers are properly installed for the drive.
