I own a TEAC HD Digital TV/DVD Combo TV.
I bought the WD Elements Play a few days ago, mainly because of the blurb on the box…plays most file formats…instantly enjoy your media…plug it in TV and enjoy! Should have known it would not be a simple task!!!
OK…Into computer…Loaded some movies…I plugged the thing into the TV via USB cord it came with and the TV will not recognise it. So where do i go from here? At almost $3ooau I hope I don’t have something which does not work!

The USB port on your tv is for hard drive with media on them to be plugged directly into the tv. You have to connect the Elements play to the TV by either the HDMI or Composite cables. The way you connected it won’t work.
