Wd elements drives not getting formatted - the partition is write protected

Hi All, 

I have 3-4 year old wd elements 1TB drive with me.

When i connected to PC today, it showed up in the Device Manager, but no Partitions cane in the explorer of win7.

I tried to format/re partition but as i click on the drive and select MBR, it says “the partition is Write Portected”.

Is the drive gone, can i recover data…

If you need the data that’s on the drive then I recommend you don’t try to format it since this will delete all the data from the drive. It may be possible to still extract the data utilizing data recovery software. There are several kinds of Data Recovery software available. If you do a web search for Data Recovery it will yield plenty of data recovery software options.

If this does not work then you should contact a data recovery company.
