WD Elements 5TB Vibration and Heat

I’ve owned a WD Elements 2TB for some years and it performs faultlessly. It is always on when the computer is on.

I’ve just bought a new WD Elements 5TB drive and compared with the 2TB it runs rough to the touch, and if I put my ear to it it sounds rough. Also it runs much hotter than the 2TB one. Otherwise it works fine.

Is this to be expected?

I suggest using multiple disks for redundancy and

USB disks are good for file history etc
