Wd black p10 change partition to NTFS

I have one p10 formatted as exFAT out of the box, but many times it is slow to respond, 1-3 seconds, when I open file explorer , try to save a file etc. I don’t know if it is a bug or ? Windows 11 and Asus, Asus does have a feature Device Encryption is On but I think is only the main harddrive.
So I have a new p10 on the way, and I will test it first but I think maybe since I use windows NTFS will respond faster I don’t need the drive to show up on other operating systems.
Any advice ? Thanks

Hi @tech4allg,

Well, most external hard drives are designed to work for Windows computers. Windows was mainly optimized for NTFS (New Technology file system) format, on the other hand, APFS was created for the Mac OS. NTFS is not compatible with Mac and similarly, APFS does not get along with Windows.

So if you don’t need to connect your external hard drive only on Windows then format the same in NTFS only!

Hope it helps!
