Hello community,
A week ago I received WD Black 2T. Its mounted with 6gb sata connector.
I am working on windows 7 64 bit and everything is working fine.
What is troubling me though is a strange noise comming from hdd during windows shutdown.
For 1 - 2 seconds, I can hear faint sound of disk reducing its speed (quiet whistling) which is normal and then for like 0.5 - 1 second I can clearly hear louder noise as if 2 materials rubbing against each other.
My question is if this is normal behavior?
(I am planning on running DOSDLG this night)
It would be best to run DLG to test your hard drive’s health status. On the other hand, the following link provides general guidelines related to hard drive noise levels, and some considerations.

Thank you for reply Trancer.
I read this article before and tried to match “my noise” to the one listed in faq. The noise in my case is not just single click. My brother has WD Red 2T and he told me he doesn’t have anything like this
I will create ticket after tests.
Ok, now that I read it again there might be a group to which I might match noise and that would be “grinding sound” which makes me even more sad.
