WD Backup will not start

my first question to this forum, I hope I am in the right place

I have a 2tb passport attached to a win 10 PC
the unit is 6months old and in attempting do a backup nothing happens when I try to start the program. I get no message , just nothing

It worked ok up until recently… I notice that there are frequent software updates that come through on the desktop and I have always allowed them to be installed

The unit has successfully backed up in the past

Reading old posts I have reinstalled all the software and other elements of the WD suite work ok
I can see the drive in windows explorer

Software version installed for WD backup is 1.9.6941.25593

I have checked virus software and all is authorised

I am at a lost to know what to do next

any tips or suggestions………gratefully received please

Mike
