I recently bought a 3TB My Book and it disconnects then reconnects itself about every hour or so. I can’t even finish a movie without it disconnecting. I’ve tried so many things to fix it and am now reaching out for help. I messaged WD and they had me download the latest firmware. I have it plugged directly into the wall. I went into the settings of the drive and shut off the sleep timer. I went into my power settings/USB settings and disabled selective suspend. I’m using a gaming laptop (sager), windows 7 64 bit. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

You might also want to check the Bios settings on your laptop and check with the laptop manufacturer to see if any issues has been reported with this Bios build causing issues with external drives.
