hi there. I recently purchased my cloud. I have at least 3 TB worth of data stored in multiple disk. And I am consolidating all of it to ‘my cloud’. But i do not want two way sync. Presently, it does two way sync. In my laptop I do not have 3 TB of space.
So I want to sync one-way only: from Laptop to my cloud. Ideally, it should update the latest from source to my cloud or create a new one if created at source.
Is one way sync possible in ‘My Cloud’? If yes, how and where to make this setting?

One-way sync is often called ‘mirroring’. Find, download and read the manual for WD Sync (assuming that’s what you’re using). I’m sure it will support simple mirroring.
Or install FreeFileSync.
What you want to do is create a backup or mirror, not a sync. Backup or mirroring is when the data is copied from your computer to the My Cloud. Syncing is when data is copied both from the computer to the My Cloud and from the My cloud to the computer (ie bi-directional).
Smartware, included with the My Cloud or downloadable from the WD Support website (http://supportdownloads.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?lang=en) will perform a backup of one’s computer. The Smartware software is fairly basic and limited. See the Smartware User Manual (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/UM/ENG/4779-705057.pdf) for more information on Smartware and how to configure it. There are numerous third party software programs that will perform backup or mirroring of the computer to the My Cloud. As the previous poster indicated, Free File Sync (http://www.freefilesync.org/) is one free option to mirror or backup data.

I created my own “Cloud Service” for my home.
Instead of attempting to manage multiple backup along with synchronizing files across multiple computers I decided to make MyCloud a common data store which is accessible to 5 different computers [2 Linux, 2 Win 7, MAC OS x] and 2 iPhones. Access is both wired and wireless [I have completely disabled Internet access to MyCloud]. I have a 3TB MyCloud, and have a 4TB MyBook directly attached. I have automatic Safepoints configured to the MyBook to take place about 3am.
