Video loses audio on the Hub

I’m trying to put a movie on the Hub. I downloaded it as 2 separate 700mb avi files and combined them into one mov file using quicktime pro. The file plays perfectly on my mac but has no audio when I play it on the hub (I’ve tried pressing the “audio” button but it does nothing either).

Please help me to get this playing properly on the hub.

Here’s the info I got from mediainfo if that helps.

I don’t think AC3 is supported in Quicktime format.

Since it’s MP4 already, just strip it out to a a .MP4 or .M4V file.

As  Tony stated, AC3 is not supported under .MOV file.

■■■■! I clicked on your comment as the answer, but the problem isn’t actually solved yet. I meant to click respond.

Could you please assume I’m a newbie to all this, and tell me how to “strip it out to a a .MP4 or .M4V file”? Is this something I’d do with the mov file or with the 2 avi files before I merged them? Thanks.

I reversed your solution for you.

Try using MKVMERGE, part of the MKVToolnix package:

http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

This will actually output to MKV, which is just as reliable (if not moreso) than MP4.

Before I download that, do you know if it works on Mac (I only own a Mac). Thanks.

For the Mac version, get the latest build here:

I’m running OS X 10.6.6 and use v4.0.0, which is located in the ‘old’ folder.

Newest version (4.6.0) in the main folder should work fine though.
