Can I use my old mybook (blue rings) as a HDD enclosure?

I have one I used a couple of years ago on my shelf and wanted to to use a 3.5 hardrive I’ve got in a cheapy enclosure which I use for Time machine backups on my Mac.

I basically want to use the My Book as a new enclosure for my existing external harddrive I’m currently using - ie I don’t want to format the hardrive.
