Use CrystalDiskInfo to change APM (WD Scorpio Blue)

Is it safe to use CrystalDiskInfo to turn off APM so that the drive won’t spin down / park it’s head every 8 seconds? I’m doing this because #1 it’s annoying waiting for the drive to spin up all the time and #2 parking the heads so often will surely reduce the life of my drive (I get over 1000 parks per day with WD’s default parking). Which will wear out the drive quicker, 1000+ parks per day or having the drive spinning 24/7? I need this drive to last 4 years. My drive is the WD10TPVT: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136545

You can also try with wdidle3, it’s not compatible with all hard drive, but you can try.
