Hi, 

What  version are the USB ports on the Live - are they both USB 2…?

Can you have two external HDD’s, of different formats (NTFS and HFS+) connected via the two ports at the same time, and view content from both in the library?

Answer 1: Both are USB2

Answer 2: Yes, however, HFS+ Journaling File System is Not Supported by the Media Library
