USB non powered Hard Drive Vs Powered Hard drive

I have a live media player and I changed the hard drive from a powered hard drive WD 1Tb (fat32) to a non powered hard drive 1Tb (fat32) now the selection of my music files is very slow  confused !

Hi bros, this happen coz the WD TV haven’t enough power to manage unpowered devices (I’ve a similar issue on my old notebook where can’t turn-on any unpowered external HD) … and will be slow due some kind current “dropout” during massive HD access and loose so the connection. My advice … NEVER unpowered units on devices tha use switched AC

Thanks for that it sounds good I will stick with powered drives on my player

I have no speed issues wit my unpowered WD passport attached to the LIVE.
