Usb defective

I bought a 4 TB drive recently and after spending many hours trying to back up data- I  found that the drive was not working properly.  More hours were spent trobleshooting, and contacting WD by phone and by e-mail and after running the diagnostics, it seems the USB cable was at fault.  So they sent another.  The “replacement” cord for my original 49 inch USB cord is only 19 inches long.  Too short to connect to anything on my desktop.  I paid for the drive and all of the components.  One part was damaged so the replacement should be exactly that.  A replacing of the orignal damaged part for an equal and working part.   Very disappointed consumer.
