Universal Remote Question (Samsung Smart TV)

I have Googled the subject of WDTV Live and Unviversal Remote and found lots of questions and lots of complicated answers.  I have not and do not want to flash my device.

I have a Samsung Smart TV.  The Universal Remote control that comes with it is amazing.  I am wondering if a) there is anyone else with this TV that has gotten the remote to work with WDTV; or, b) if there is some generic set of steps one can take to get another TV remote to work with WDTV Live.

Switch on HDMI CEC on the WD TV.

Thank you.  I researched this and found that turning on HDMI CEC will facilitate turning the WDTV off/on using the universal remote.

What I would like to do, if it is possible, is go to wdtv home, select content, play/pause content using universal remote. 

Is this possible, and if so, how could I go about it?
