Uninstall WD Smartware from My Book Essential

I have been using WD Smartware to create backups of my PC. The external hard drive also has additional files stored on it that are not related to the WD Smartware backups. My question: is it possible to uninstall WD Smartware and remove the backups but keep the additional files without having to reformat the hard drive or update the Universal Hardware?

Thanks

It should be. Make sure you remove a password if you set one then use the Smartware to delete the backup. then uninstall the Smartware.

Joe

I don’t see an option to have Smartware delete only the backups. I went through the Smartware user manual and it has a section on erasing the drive, meaning ALL content, not just the backups. How do I delete only the backups and uninstall the software?

Thanks
