Unbrinking a Single Drive My Cloud

I’ve found posts here and elsewhere with instructions that say they are for unbrinking a Single Drive My Cloud, which I need to do. However, all of these directions seem to have you set up a raid. I have a My Cloud “WDBCTL0040HWT-00” with a single hard drive. Is my interpretation correct? If so, are these instructions correct for a My Cloud with a single hard drive? They have steps that include “set 1 raid on, set 2 raid on, sudo apt-get install mdadm parted, sudo mdadm --create /dev/md0 --level=1 --metadata=0.9 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2, sudo mdadm --stop /dev/md0, sudo mdadm -A /dev/md0 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdb2”. Should I actually do such steps on a single drive my cloud? If not, should I simply skip these step? If I should skip them, are there different commands regarding the hard drive other than uploading backup images to it?

What problems are you having with your WDMYCLOUD?

Use Manual

The hard drive is dead.
