Unable to open files from WD My Book for MAC using Yosemite

Hello everyone.  I’m new to mac’s.  I recently purchased a 3TB My Book for MAC.  I was able to get it connected without issue and can save to the drive.  I am however unable to open files from the drive.  I was told I’d need to reformat the drive for Yosemite.  Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction?

Please note that formatting the drive will delete everything stored on it.

Thank you however I do not see an option for OX-X (Yosemeti).  Honestly, I’m most likely going to return this to Best Buy as I’m tired of dealing with this.  It will work then it won’t.  I constantly have to restart my computer for it to work.
