Ultrastar DC HC310 SAS 12Gb/s drives at 6Gb/s

Good day.
I want to install several Ultrastar DC HC310 SAS 12Gb/s drives on an Intel RAID Expander (RES2SV240) that operates at 6Gb/s. Will these drives work at a lower speed?

I want to use the SAS version of this drive over the SATA (6Gb/s) so I can update my system at a later date to 12Gb/s.
