Ultra Slim Tottaly disabling H/W encryption

Hi,

Looking to purchase a an external HD as a gift,  the WD ultra slims look the best.  However itsgoing to be used soley for storing media that will be played on blu ray players…  It will be connected to the pc and mac now and again to move data from the camcorder to the drive.

As this will be connected to various media devices, such as tablets, Blu ray player, TVs and consoles, I want to know if its possible to disable the encryption on the drive so its not active at all ?

Yes, the encryption system can be disabled. However, this does not guarantee the device will work on non-computer devices.
