Two new WD40EZEX drives dead

I just bought two WD40EZEX 4TB drives from an online seller.

When I installed them I got seek errors from one and absolutely nothing from the other.

When I try to register them on the WD site, or initiate a warranty claim I get “No data found”, I assume in reference to the serial numbers.

Fakes? They say “made in Malaysia”, but were shipped from China, whic is ironic as I live about 2Km from the old WD Factory.

This is why I quit buying my drives from online sellers. I was getting drives that were new old stock and the only warranty you had was with the seller. Now I only buy from WD’s store and I get fresh drives. Sometimes WD has sales and you can get as good a price. It’s just not worth all the hassle to buy from others.
