Today morning when I was transferring my files in wd 1tb my passport poratable hard drive suddenly the speed dropped to 700 kB/s and when I tried again to transfer now the speed only stays at 700 KB/s. Also when I removed and inserted my hard drive again it takes time to load and also opening it as the mouse curser spins for a while then the windows explorer freezes but after a while the drive opens. Is this a hardware problem as I have important files in it

I recommend that you run a diagnostic on the drive using Western Digital’s Data Lifeguard Diagnostics tool.
Also try another computer and USB cable if possible.
