Too many shares?

I have read that there may be an issue with the amount of shares possibly causes an issue with the PS3.  Does this also apply to sub-folders of those shares?

I don’t know anything about that;  I doubt this is the best place to ask.

I didn’t even know a PS3 could read Samba shares; I thought it was DLNA only.

It does not apply to subfolders, only the number of shares. Around four shares seem to be the point at which the PS/3 starts to loose communications - and yes this is through DLNA.
