Funny thing is that it was working yesterday with no trouble, I even did an extended test last Sunday which showed nothing was wrong. I checked the SMART info and everything was fine. Though there were occasional clicks which I thought that they were normal, nothing really indicated that it was going to die today… when I brought my laptop out of hibernation.
So good job… Backups are serious business and never trust SMART ever again.
You never want to trust one drive with important data you always need a second copy. Are you sure it isn’t just a bad cable or power supply?
