Time machine connection to MBWE failed

Recently, I mistakingly switched off the power to my MBWE!

My device has a wired LAN connection to my router and is used as addiitonal storage and time machine backup for my iMac.  My iMac has OS X version 10.9.1.  Everything was running fine, until I switched off the power to the MBWE!

When I attempt to connect to the MBWE from time machine, it comes up with the error stated below:

“The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.”

I have tried rebooting all my devices, ie. iMac, router, MBWE, however this has not resolved the issue.  I appear to be able to connect to the MBWE using Finder and view the data, however I can’t get Time Machine working again.

Any suggestions on what to check / do to resolve this?

Hi Wanda6, have you tried pressing the reset button on the back of the MBWE? This wont delete any of your files.

Thank-you Ichigo.

I have tried the reset button…it didn’t make any difference.
