Just got the My Book Thunderbolt Duo 6TB. Tried to configure it to Mirror (RAID 1) but I keep getting the error message “The configuration of the drive has failed. Creation of the mirror set has failed”. Help! What did I do wrong or didnt do right?
Found the answer. Must use iMac’s Disk Utility to delete the default Stripe (RAID 0) first and then use WD Drive Utilities to configure the mirroring!

Just came over this post when having the same issues.
I have a 4Tb Thunderbolt Duo and received the error message mentioned. So having read the repsonse tried deleteing the set in Disk Utility but get an error saying "Deleting RAID set failed with the error: Couldn’t unmount disk.
Can someone please advise what I’m doing wrong?
27" iMac, 3.4GHz Intel Core i7, 16Gb 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM, OSX 10.8.5
I have exactly the same issue as mufftarkin.
I try to delete the raid 0 but I get the same message:
“Deleting RAID set failed with the error: Couldn’t unmount disk”
Does anyone have a solution for this? What am I doing wrong?
Ok, just worked this out. You have to make sure that WD Drive Utilities is closed when trying to delete Raid 0.
