The everlovin wont remove drive problem. lots of info, no clue what it means

As to the problem removing the drive, I seem to hvae fixed it.

I was finally able to do a chkdsk by dismounting the drive when it asked me to (per suggestion in another forum), and chkdsk ran ok, fixed some errors, and the missing folder is back and I was just able to remove the drive properly…

I havent checked about the problem with xp, but I am hopeful.

thanks/excuses to anyone who spent time reading this…

ok. here goes.

lots of info, but no clue what it all means.

using wd my passport on vista and xp

on wd my passport 500Gig

It started with a corrupted folder.

I run testdisk, i can see the data, i back it up.

when i try to delete the recovered data from my hard drive (not the removable drive)

since i dont need it anymore

it tells me it is all shared…I have to remove sharing to delete it. Why???

Anyhow, I try to use the drive on  my xp

I get blue screen of death

problem with ntfs.sys when i try to load the drive

sorry i dont have the exact message this moment

meanwhile, vista loads the drive, but refuses to remove the drive.

program is still using it messge

I try to run chkdsk from drive properties tools

It tries to boot from the drive, instead of my hard drive

but tells me that bootmgr is missing

On reboot i override to boot from hard drive.

it does not do the chkdsk

I run chkdsk from a command console

it gives me

In the event explorer, I see a message

I run process explorer and run file handle search

it tells me

svchost.exe is using it with desktop window manager as a sub thread

in two places

G:$Extend$ObjId

and

G:\System Volume Information\tracking.log

I try closing handles, they reappear

I should say this was happening.

Currently process explorer is finding no handles for my drive,

but still no luck removing.

So I have no clue what process it is that is hanging things up.

I go to file explorer as administratorand I enable system files

but it wont give me access to the G:\System Volume Information\ folder

and I dont understand the first.

I also get a handle from another program, object dock, referencing a recycle bin on the drive

I close the program, and the handle disappears,

but

I see the recycle bin in my file explorer. I check my recycle bin properties in windows, and yes it it there.

I check do not remove to recycl bin, thinking that will help, but no luck.

Should I delete the recycle bin? Can I delete it? How do I delete it?

in administrative tools event viewer I get  messages

about system preventing me from unload drive

I tried disabling the virus checker, but it still wont remove it…

If I try to delete the corrupt folder, it tells me the folder is no empty, and refuses to do so.

What do I do??

ps

I dont know if it is related,

I was getting a message to load drive each time i put the drive in, as I know it should, with 3 options. I was just cancelling each time, as per manual, but one time I clicked stop asking, and it stopped asking. but then

I started having problem below, so i deleted the driver, and the message reappears as before, as it should…

good to know that you resolved your issue
