I ran a Smart Short Self Test on a WD6400AAKS HD and it advised me it failed the test and was in immediate threat of total failure. I ran this test several times to make sure there was a problem.I installed another WD HD to replace this HD. I cloned all the info, including the SO to the new HD using Acronis from you WD web site. After cloning all the info I formatted the original HD so I could install some games on it and then ran a Smart Short Self Test again and it passed - shows 100% OK. Does this mean it is fixed by formatting or there was nothing wrong with the HD? I would like to go back to the original HD because the new one I installed is only 160 GB.
We recommend running the extended test in this case.
