Testing hard drive in computer

Acronis has twice asked me to have the drive manufacturer test my internal hard drive, because CHKDSK /F /R got hung up at 31% (completely stopped; I had to power off) The computer is running again, but check disk reports errors found. Acronis said WD diagnostics would evaluate the condition of the drive. It is just over 3 years old.

  1. What diagnostic tool does WD recommend?
  2. Is there a setting of chkdsk that will NOT get hung up? I’m afraid to do default repair and get hung up again.
