Temperature starts at 30 degrees Celsius

Just wondering why my MBL’s temperature starts at 30 degrees. I just turned it on and when i check the temperature via smartctl it is already at 32 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature i’ve seen so far is 61 degrees but the WD Quick View says temperature is Good.

Anyone know why?

it should be 5 to 35 C so this is normal

I know the operating temperature should between those, but i am asking why is it at the start of operating, it is at 30 C already.

This is reasonably simple.  Remember “room temperature” + “heat generated by drive” = “Total drive temperature reported by SMART diagnostics”.  :wink:

Plus, the drive’s designed to stand upright to allow convection to remove heat from it.
