Switching off services to have less disk activity

My MBL is doing a lot of disk activitywith only a couple of devices backing up. I’ve switched off Twonky and iTunes sharing, but hesitated with remote help as it might impact future support requests? Is there a checklist of all the stuff I can do to minimise the disk activity?

What do you mean a lot of activity? If you have a couple of devices backing up, then the my book should be active.
