Switching from Windows to Mac

I currently have a 6+ year old Gateway laptop that is still running Windows Vista. In anticipation of its demise, I bought a Passport Ultra a few months ago. I have now accepted that my laptop is basically on hospice care at this point. I am considering a Mac for my next laptop. Am I going to be able to transfer all the data, or is that going to cause issues?

Hello,

Please note that Mac and Windows use different file formats. Windows does not recognize Mac format. However, Mac will recognize the files on a Windows formatted drive but it will not allow you to write to it. This means you should be able to copy the files to your Mac and then format the drive so you can use it on the Mac computer.
