Support for WoL (wake on lan) as sender

Unfortunatly, BusyBox on My Cloud EX2 does not allow any of the methods to send wol magic packets from NAS to a target on the local network.
See article:
Wake-on-LAN with BusyBox?

BusyBox implemented in EX2 NAS is missing:

  • every tools (like ether-wake) that natively are proposed to this scope
  • the nc (netcat) command
  • syslogd -O option
  • the /dev/udp device

so it seems impossible to achieve the goal.
My scenario is that the NAS is the only device always-on connected to the internet, I’d like to remotely power on my PCs in the same local network on a sometimes-base from SSH.

Any suggestions?
Of course it would be great if it were some kind of added support in a future release.

Hi there,

I have never tried this, however, there are a lot of experienced users that can share some ideas with us. Let’s wait and see if any of them can scheme on this situation.

Hey,

I know it’s been a while but were you able to achieve this in the end?
It’s a perfect method IMHO, as the my cloud is my only ‘always on’ device on my LAN, so if I could send magic packets to other devices it would prove the solution I’m looking for!

Thanks
