While attempting a Secure Erase using hdparm on my WD10EADS drive from 2009, I realized it doesn’t seem to support this feature. Strangely, another drive I purchased around the same time, the WD100FALS, does. I was under the impression that Secure Erase was a basic feature on drives since 2001. Is anyone else facing similar inconsistencies with older WD drives? I’m resorting to manual wiping, but I’m curious to hear your insights!
